I can’t believe this is still being shoved under the rug as if it did not happen. I cannot visit these sites very often as I cry for days. I am ashamed to be white.

I am ashamed to be from Tulsa, the city I was raised to believe was so wonderful. My mother never knew about this, nor my dad. The betrayals and lies just seem to continue on forever, all understanding and comprehension lost.

I just wonder “when do bad things happen to bad people?”

I have friends from Tulsa. They are proud African-Americans who shared this history with me long ago. It never gets easier to digest. The images are so powerful. The injustice is so profound. My heart breaks at how one human being could do these things to another human being. Carla, you don’t have to be ashamed of being white; and I don’t have to be ashamed of being Black. Ironically, we are BOTH challenged in the same way–share the story, let people know the truth. Govern ourselves in a better way and make sure our children know.

Americans today need to be informed of injustices like this against our own kind…Black, white, brown, red, yellow, none of that should be a consideration.
I find it VERY disturbing that anytime I bring up the Tulsa Race Riots of 1921 or the Attica Prison Riot of 1971 in a group of INTELLIGENT people, all I get is a simple “huh” for a response.

  4. As a young 43 yr.old blackma i am deeply hurt. All my life i knew it was something wrong with the world as i knew it, and the older i get i’m seeing the truth. I have to truly give God the glory for our Ancestors and survivers of those unthinkable hate crimes. Today i’m very proud to be BLACK and will teach/ educate my 2 young son’s of our BLACK RICH HISTORY.
